Volunteer Reiki Practitioners Needed at Life with Cancer

Sharing this volunteer opportunity in our community! – Angela

IMG_0546Life with Cancer is an organization that provides education and support to cancer patients and their families/friends, free of charge and regardless of where they are being treated. We are proud to report that we have had an active reiki program for the past 15 years. It is through the efforts of our volunteer Reiki practitioners that this program is possible. So many of our clients report the benefits receive through the free reiki treatments they receive at Life with Cancer.

We are now looking for additional practitioners to add to our volunteer list. Our Reiki appointments are held at the Life with Cancer Family Center, 8411 Pennell Street, Fairfax Virginia (check us out at www.lifewithcancer.org).

We offer individual Reiki appointments to cancer patients, survivors and their family members on the 2nd Monday and 4th Wednesday of each month at 6:30 and 7:30pm. Each appointment lasts approximately 50 minute and 7 appointments are scheduled for each timeslot. That means that we need 7 Reiki practitioners each evening.

Please review the following requirements and contact Catherine.Intartaglia@inova.org if you are interested or would like more information.

Requirements for volunteer Reiki practitioners:
Level III or Masters certificate
TB test (no cost to you)
Annual flu shot (no cost to you)
Signed release for a background check (at no cost to you)

Kindest Regards,
Catherine

Importance of Life with Cancer volunteer work

The following article was written by Reiki Master Diane Guinter

To All of my Dearest Reiki Colleagues,

I have recently been volunteering at Life with Cancer the last few months.  They have informed us that they have been struggling to get practitioners to volunteer lately, the last 4-5 months, an(d) they have had to be canceling slots for their clients/patients.

I wanted to encourage all of you to revisit why we do Reiki, including myself because the message I’m going to share with you below got sent to me today (see note below) and I felt that I was “not necessarily present” last night and WOW what a surprise that Reiki worked through me anyways.

I’m so happy I went last night even through our busy schedules seem to take priority BUT again “wow” I’m in awe of the gift we were given and am able to share with the universe.

-Diane

A recent Reiki client at Life with Cancer said:

“I have come for Reiki and the oncology massage and it has been very healing and fantastic. I always feel calm and powerful healing. I am so relaxed that it’s almost dangerous for me to drive. Better than any medicine prescribed. I have stage 4 Breast cancer that has gone to my hips, spine and ribs. I feel loose and energized. Thank you so much!! Words can’t express my gratitude.”
