Reiki Jin Kei Do Picnic – June 5, 2022
11:00am-3:00pm
Algonkian Regional Park, Pavilion 2

47001 Fairway Drive, Sterling, VA 20165

Summer is coming and it’s time to celebrate!  We hope you will join us for a potluck picnic on June 5, at Algonkian Regional Park, Pavilion #2, from 11:00-3:00.  Yep, in person!!!  It’s been a long time coming and we couldn’t be happier.   The location is beautiful.  A picture of the pavilion and map of the location (47001 Fairway Drive, Sterling, VA 20165) at Algonkian Regional Park are above.

Cost:  Stella and I will cover the cost of the pavilion. Our ask is that you donate $5 for one person or $10 for families to cover the plates, plastic ware, tablecloths, ice and bottled water.  Any leftover funds will be deposited into the Reiki account for future gatherings.

What to Bring:   Bring your favorite dish, of course, and whatever you need to serve it.  We will not be coordinating food, so whatever you bring will be perfect.   Bottled water will be available, but if you are a soda drinker, please bring that.  As a heads up, no alcohol is permitted in the park.   There will be a grill available for anyone who needs it.

COVID:  We will be following Covid guidance in place at that time we meet.   Fingers crossed, that will be minimal.  That said, please take care of yourself and wear a mask and/or maintain social distancing if that makes you more comfortable.  And, of course, if you are not feeling well or have been exposed to someone with Covid, please take a rapid test at home.

RSVP:   Please text RSVP Anne at 240-675-1660 by MAY 25 to give us some idea of how many folks will be coming.

REIKI JIN KEI DO LEVEL 2
JULY 9-10, 2022

heart in open hands isolated on white

Stella and I are happy to announce that we are resuming teaching Reiki Jin Kei Do after a 2.5 year COVID hiatus.  Whew – we’ve missed you!  Our first class will be Level 2 Reiki Jin Kei Do, scheduled for July 9-10, 2022, in Northern Virginia.

Second Degree Reiki is a much stronger vibrational energy than First Degree.  It increases your ability to access reiki energy for yourself and others, better manage and work with emotional issues, and enables you to send reiki energy across time and distance.

In this experiential, interactive course, you will —
• Receive two attunements that raise the vibrational energy of the crown and palm chakras
• Learn and practice the three sacred reiki symbols that enhance the amount of reiki energy available to them, contribute to emotional balance, and facilitate your ability to send reiki to others
• Learn a lying down treatment protocol that deepens your ability to work with others
• Practice a new qi gong that enhances energy flow and quiets the body mind

Tuition for this two-day course is $275 for open enrollment participants.  It is discounted to $200.00 for participants who took Level 1 through INOVA’s Life with Cancer program.  The cost to repeat this course is $75.00.  A $100 pre-registration deposit is required.  Class size is limited to 6 participants. A minimum of four students is required for us to hold the class.

Prerequisite:  Completion of Level 1 Reiki Jin Kei Do.

COVID precautions:  Some of our students are immune-compromised or live in a household with someone who is.  We ask that all participants respect the need to be conscious of this.  With that said, we will be following whatever guidelines are in place in Virginia at the time of the class.  At this point in time, COVID cases are again on the rise in VA and PA.  While we will ensure there is social distancing for some of the class activities, there are others that require closer proximity to students and between students.  For this reason, we are specifically requesting the following to make this class as safe as possible for all concerned:

  1. Take a rapid test at home the morning of Day 1.  You can get additional free tests at https://special.usps.com/testkits
  2. Regardless of the results, if you are experiencing cold, allergy, or flu symptoms, please let us know and cancel your participation this time around.
  3. Wear a face mask during the class.  We will take more breaks than usual so that you get a breather outdoors.

If you are interested in enrolling in the class:  Let us know and send your pre-registration deposit payable to Stella Koch. Stella’s address is: 1056 Manning Street, Great Falls, VA  22066.  And if you have questions prior to registering, please text me (Anne) at 240-675-1660.

Once you have registered, I will provide you more detailed information that includes the location, what to bring, and how to prepare for the class NLT Friday, July 1, 2022.

We are really looking forward to seeing you and teaching this class!

Reiki Winter Update

Dear All,

During Gilbert’s Zoom Tribute, we all spoke to his gift of compassion.   Without fail, he always reached out to ask, to listen, to offer.   We know these practices are embedded in the RJKD community because you live them, too.  I suspect that many of you have heard their call even more urgently over the past couple of weeks.  This may be in part because Gilbert’s transition cracked open our collective heart space, letting in even more love and light than ever.  I’m not sure what this actually means for you, but my hope is you pay attention, reflect, and reach out if you need a sounding board.  The threads of friendship and respect cross this community in profound ways.  Don’t hesitate to pull on those threads as you need them.

With the widespread use of masks and availability of rapid testing, we are looking forward to offering an abbreviated schedule in 2022, with the possibility of returning to a full schedule in 2023.  Right now, this is what’s on tap for this year:

  • Late winter:  Pauline Reid is offering a free, four week Zoom Qi Gong program through the Oakton Public Library:  https://librarycalendar.fairfaxcounty.gov/event/8875569 You must register for each class individually; dates are February 25, March 4, 11, 18.
  • Spring:  In person picnic.  Our assumption is that COVID is on the down swing and gathering outdoors will be on par with last spring and summer.  Stella is identifying a location, date to be decided.
  • Summer:
    • RJKD Level 2 with Stella and Anne – date to be decided
    • Reiki share at Julie’s – date to be decided
    • RJKD Level 1, possibly with Life with Cancer (if they resume in-person classes)
  • Fall – Retreat in Richmond.  We’ve had reservations for this on the books for two years now.  Most of the available spots are already filled.  Stella will sort through the paperwork by the end of March to give us some idea of how many, if any, open reservations are available.
  • Winter –  December Holiday party in northern Virginia, depending on what’s happening with COVID at that time.

Much love,
Stella and Anne
